As it happens, there are quite a few things you could choose to do. Some are simple. Some can be confronting. The more you know, the better off you will be.

Environment

This is a really big one because without a healthy environment and sustainable natural resources, we have nothing. Humanity has not done well on this group. This group includes equitable access to water by protecting natural sources, reducing pollution, and ensuring sustainable management. We also transition to renewable, low-impact energy while reducing overall consumption. Our community vision should be walkable, resilient, and socially-driven urban spaces with affordable housing and efficient public transport. We push for circular economies, reduced waste, and ethical supply chains and most urgently, demand emissions reductions, adaptation strategies, and ecosystem restoration. We need an end to ocean pollution, overfishing, and habitat destruction while prioritizing rewilding, biodiversity protection, and regenerative land use to restore ecosystems and combat deforestation and soil degradation.

Community

Here we aim to eliminate poverty by ensuring fair wages, social protection, and access to basic needs while promoting universal healthcare, mental health support, and disease prevention. All of us should enjoy inclusive, lifelong learning while dismantling discrimination, pay inequality, and gender-based violence. Overall, we need to address systemic injustices by advocating for fair economic policies, social inclusion, and accessible opportunities. Together, these push for a just, healthy, and equitable society where all people can thrive.

Economy

This goal looks for localized, regenerative agriculture to ensure food sovereignty over industrialized monocultures. Through it we shift away from GDP growth to meaningful, low-impact, and cooperative work and must prioritize small-scale, repairable, and low-energy solutions. Lastly, we strive for sufficiency, circular economies, and rejecting overproduction and waste.

Way Of Life

This goal looks to reduce violence, corruption, and exploitation while fostering localised participatory governance and being aware of balanced global cooperation, technology sharing, and fair trade. Degrowth moves us towards local self-governance, community-led justice, and equitable partnerships that reduce dependency on exploitative global systems.
